It began with the first Trails in the Sky in 2011 (the original game published in 2004). The Trails in the Sky trilogy came out over a decade ago in Japan, and has slowly seen localization in the West in recent years.
In the future, XSEED said in a press release that Trails of Cold Steel II is also planned for an eventual PC port. XSEED Games has announced that Trails in the Sky the 3rd, the final arc in the Trails in the Sky series, will be released on May 3rd (fitting) on PC. Trails of Cold Steel isn’t the only game in the series now heading to PCs. The updated edition won’t merely be a simple port, as it contains 5,000 new lines of voiceover dialogue (approximately a 50 percent increase from before).
